Thank you for sharing your children over these
summer Sunday mornings. We have had Sundays with as few as one and
as many as thirteen present. Our combined class has experienced many
creative Bible lessons. Our older kids are great about helping our
younger kids and setting the model for how to play the game,
complete the craft, etc.Our younger kids enjoy the attention
provided by the older kids.We have even had some members of the
youth group hang out and help us.
We will be continuing this combined classroom
concept through the end of September. From August 10th through
September 21st Alicia Smith will be teaching 'the
group'.For those of you who may not know Alicia, she has been
attending St. James since early last fall. However, she is the
granddaughter ofThe Rev. Dorsey Smith, she has grown up in this
church. Her additional family connections are daughter of The Rt.
Rev. Dabney T. Smith, and sister of Ashton Williston, our youth
minister.Perhaps her most enjoyable role is that of aunt to
Isabella and Abigail Williston.Alicia is an experienced teacher,
and will be returning to her fifth grade classroom in the
fall.
I am most thankful that Alicia is willing to sub
over the next few weeks.I will be doing duty first as godmother in
South Carolina, grandmother in North Carolina, and then on to San
Francisco for the birth of my third grandchild.Obviously a very
joyous journey for me.
I will look forward to seeing each of you upon
my return. At that time we will be introducing the plans for the
Fall Children's Ministry.Enjoy these remaining days of
summer.
Peace be with you,
Danna Tate
