MOUNTAIN OF HOPE
This non-profit organization incorporated in Florida was founded by volunteers from St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Lake Mary, who had been involved for ten years in organizing annual medical and dental missions to villagers in rural northeastern Honduras. In 2001 following fundraising efforts involving several Central Florida Episcopal Churches a new 4,000 sq. foot medical-dental clinic began operation on a full-time basis in the remote village of Quince de Enero.
Members of the Mountain of Hope have also assisted with the expansion of the local village school and with digging and electrifying wells and providing other water projects for Quince de Enero and nearby villages. Volunteers from central Florida regularly make up a mission trip to train medical staff at the clinic and provide care.
In the past, members of St. James have been part of the medical mission, and we currently make a contribution from our Outreach funds. Honduras is the compaion diocese to the Diocese of Central Florida.
